Design & Technology Technician

Overview

We are looking to appoint a Design & Technology Technician to provide effective support in our Design and Technology department.

You will assist the teacher with learning activities, supporting the practical elements of the DT, Resistant Materials and Construction courses. This includes managing stock, ensuring maintenance of a safe and purposeful working environment, timely and accurate preparation and use of specialist equipment/resources/materials as required by staff/curriculum/lesson plans.

The successful candidate should be self-motivated with initiative to work independently as well as part of a team, highly organised, reliable, have a friendly manner and the ability to work under pressure.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support practical elements of the DT, Resistant Materials and Construction courses ensuring a safe working environment
  • Timely and accurate preparation of routine equipment/resources/materials as set out in instructions.
  • Assist the teacher with learning activities ensuring health and safety and good behaviour of pupils.
  • Maintenance of everyday equipment, check for quality/safety.
  • Provide clerical/admin. support e.g. photocopying, printing and display etc.
  • Organising and maintaining the equipment storage and prep room.
  • Assisting with the creation of a new curriculum at Key Stage 3 for Years 7-9 including the use of new 3D printers and corresponding software

Salary & Other Information

Job Title: Design & Technology Technician (DT, Resistant Materials and Construction)

Hours: 20 hours per week (term Time plus 3 PD days, 44.20 weeks per year)

SCP: Grade 4 (SCP 5)

Hourly rate: £12.85 (pay award pending)

Salary: £11,359

Contract Type: Fixed until 31st August 2026
