Equality Objectives
1. To actively reduce gaps in attendance among different student groups, with a particular focus on children who are looked after and those eligible for pupil premium.
The reason for this objective:
Historically, the attendance rates for these students have consistently been lower than their peers who are not eligible. Our aim is to narrow this gap steadily over time, ensuring that the attendance of these students improves year on year. Ultimately, we aim for their attendance to be aligned with our overall school targets for attendance.
2. To ensure that all students are exposed to a wide range of diverse role models, including staff members, visiting speakers, and individuals in leadership roles, representing a variety of backgrounds.
The reason for this objective
Since Shropshire is not an ethnically or culturally diverse county when compared to others in the West Midlands, it is important for us to broaden our students’ understanding of society’s wider cultural landscape. We aim to improve the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of our students, enabling them to fully appreciate and respect differences, fostering a deeper understanding and value of diversity.
