Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Overview
Belvidere School is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work as part of a newly established provision, supporting a small cohort of vulnerable pupils.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering personalised support for pupils who will benefit from a nurturing and targeted approach to their learning. You will work alongside a dedicated team of teaching staff to deliver high-quality interventions, promote engagement, and remove barriers to learning – helping every young person thrive.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Role:
- Supporting the delivery of learning across a small, focused provision within the school
- Leading and delivering interventions with individuals and small groups
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to plan, implement, and review learning strategies
- Promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing, and inclusion
- Supporting assessment and progress tracking to ensure impact
- Helping to create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Teaching short, targeted lessons to a small group of pupils (6-8 pupils)
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds HLTA status or equivalent qualification (Level 4)
- Has experience working with pupils with additional needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Is resilient, compassionate, and child-centred
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Salary & Other Information
Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Grade and SCP: Grade 7 (SCP 12 to 17)
Hourly rate: £14.36 to £15.58 (pay award pending)
Salary range: £27,711 to £30,060 (pro rata actual salary £23,723 to £25,738)
Contract Type: Permanent term time plus 5 days
